Fantastic Christmas Market in Budapest. Real Christmas feel, beautiful sights, great designer shops too. Food and drink on a par with Britain but well worth going to see. Hope you find what you are looking for.

one I went to was in Osnabruke it was a lovely market and very festive we got lots of different unusual pressies I would go back again .
there are lots of markets all over Germany and Belgium and plenty of offers for short breaks

Cheers Jo - great suggestions. I've been to Lincoln market so if you were impressed with Berlin and Budapest then definitely worth a look.

Oh, forgot to say that we also went to Budapest in Hungary a couple of years ago in December, and that certainly had a wintry feel, and som lovely small markets. Jo x

I LOVE christmas markets! I am originally from Lincoln, and they have a big one there every year at the beginning of December which I would highly recommend. As for overseas, we went to Berlin in December and it's fab! There are little markets all over the city, which we visited using the underground system and had a gluwein at each (we collected the mugs too.) The lights on Unter den Linden at and Friedrichstrasse are simple but gorgeous and I believe the nightlife is pretty great too! We stayed in the Westin Grand http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1105 and I can highly recommend it for a special christmassy feel! Have fun, and make sure you post lots of pictures!! We're off to Paris in November this year - hoping there may be one or two markets there too!
