Me and my Husdand stopped in the Halley last year, not far from the Beach. Hotel was ok we stopped on the top floor which was very private, but only 1 lift was working at any 1 time and Resturant wasn't open, but that doesn;t matter as there are plenty of places to eat, just round the corner is a Man u bar, can't remember the correct name but they do lovely snacks. we are going again this year June 18th - 26th but to a different Hotel just round the corner.

Thanks for that. Every review I have read says the restaurant/bar wasn't open, but read another saying when someone went it was actually in the middle of refurbishment, if it's closed then maybe alpha rooms should update the description! Not to worry we eat out anyway, was cheap as chips, as long as it is clean and staff sociable then be ok.

Someone who travelled in March of this year(2008), left a review elsewhere and the restaurant in the hotel was now open and they said that the food was great and you can get a really good breakfast for 2.50 euro in it.

I;m back from my holiday staying at the Halley Appartments. I have to say they were really clean, spacious (had a 2 bed) and both the lifts worked and the bar/restaurant was open all the time. The staff were very friendly. There was a mixture of English and Dutch staying their. 2-15 June 2008, everyone got on well. There were quite a few stag and hen groups arrive, and towards the end of our stay some were really noisy coming home at like 5/6/7/am and acting like it was the middle of the day and drinking bottles of beer in the pool around the little kids which wasn't fair on the kids. All in all it was a good stay! The rooms were clean and spacious and the kitchen fully stocked with utensils and plates etc. Electric Halogen hob and full size fridge freezer, huge terrace to sit out on. Safe hire was not too dear but remote control was very expensive about 37 euros and you only get sky news so not worth it. Plenty of late night snack places and Subways opens until 3.30am opposite the Halley, the Indian/Kebab take away restaurants opposite open til about 3am as well! We had a great holiday, too much of everything and not enough sleep and that was me 37 my mother 67 and her friend 65...we found something for all of us to do. If you feel like it get to go on one of the free trips which goes to the chocolate factory, sure you have to sit through a 30 minute bedding sale but after you get to visit some small villages, Finestrat being the nicest you stop there for a cup of tea before going to the chocolate factory to see how Valor Chocs are made and visit their museum....free samples are plenty and they have a little shop..bought back loads couldn't resist! Cant wait to go back to Benidorm never realised how much I missed it!

Opposite the Halley (opposite Stretford End / London Bar) wasa new bar that opened keeping the old name "Vonnys", very very very cheap drinks and they have Karoke on. Kevin and his daughter Lisa helped by 3 year old Ben run the place and they are extremely friendly, it was packed inside and out straight away. Ben is soooo cute that people were going along to the chinese shop a few doors down and buying him remote control toys...he must of thought it was christmas! Mention Lee & Trish told you to pop in...they will make you very welcome! Still very cheap out there even though the euro sucks. Pints 1 euro, spirits and mixers anything from 1 euro to 2 euros for brand names, but in the clubs like cafe beidorm, chaplins in the square, expect to pay about 4 euros for a spirit and mixer. Chinese can get for 4 euro 95 cents from the menu of the day which is a starter, main course and beer, wine or soft drinks very good value in the majority of the chinese restaurants. Pop along to the Vincents Bars - namely The Traingle, Plaza, White Horse etc for good happy hours and decent decor (near the Halley top of calle Londres turn right and they about 100ft away on all 4 of the courners)

If like us you arrive late or like us early evening and unpack and go out and forget milk for a morning cuppa, be warned nowhere that sells milk opens up before 8.30am, not where we were.
