Where to in Majorca

Hi,

I fancy taking the Mrs to Majorca in September since it's some where I've never been.
Any reccomendations for some where close to the beach?

Hi
If it is just you and the Mrs the north of the island might be best, Alcudia as John mentioned or Porta Pollenca is also lovely. Sonta Ponsa in the south is good value for families and Palma Nova is a bit more lively for clubbing.

In the north you could try the Bellevue Apartments in Alcudia.

I stayed in the Aimia hotel in Puerto Soller (not even 2 minutes from beach. Narrow beach but fab decking around pool and loungers.
Really chic hotel and resort. And you get a duvet not a sheet and blanket.
It will still be lovely and warm in September only a cardy needed for dinner.

We've stayed at the Hotel Lagomonte in Alcudia on 3 occasions the atnosphere there is great and it's all inclusive. There are quite a few kids there, so if you want to avoid children then don't go. You should try to avoid the Jupiter Saturno because its a bit wild: drunken teenagers, nappies in the swimming pool etc. Also avoid at all costs the Hotel Leo in Can Pastilla. We made a reservation to stay there but when we turned up the hotel was over booked and we were sent to another hotel which wasn't very good.

Spilly,
I am a regular visitor to Majorca. If I mention a hostel, you.ll say - What !.
However, there is one in Alcudia called the Brisas Marina ( you can get them on a search engine ). It is right on the sea front, overlooking the marina. Very modern with aircon. They dont serve breakfast, but they give you vouchers for a restaurant below. Outside - on the marina front, there are many bars and restaurants. The beach is 2 mins. away. Within 100 mts. there are dozens of tapas bars restaurants in narrow streets. Ramons is not to be missed.
Ask for a front room overlooking the marina; with balconies- sit there with a gin /tonic and watch the world go by. Great sea views. All you want is within 10 mins. - very civilised.
We,ve used it many times- highly recommended.
Here,s the bonus. ITS CHEAP AS CHIPS ! - book direct and seperate flight, you.ll be amazed waht value for money you,ll get.
# COLIN.

I would agree with Imelda and Chris on this one - as a family we have been visiting Majorca for 20 odd years and always used to go to Alcudia or Cala Bona which both have loads of facilities for families. However, since our sons have left home we have gone to Puerto Pollenca and it is absolutely gorgeous. Lovely beach, relaxing walks, super marina, lots of lovely little restaurants and you can even go to Formentor on the ferry (or drive if you don't mind hairpin bends) and the views are lovely. We stay in the apartments Daina cause they are very centrally located (going again in September ourselves).......enjoy!!
