Magaluf....

Looking for a family holiday, I hear all the feedback about the wild nightlife in Magaluf, but does this area cater for families as well, I will be travelling in a group of a variety of ages, from infants to grandparents, the majority of the group being in 20's 30's and 40's so wanting the nice quiet days by the pool but a good nightlife too....any one been and what do you think of it, or got any suggestons for another part of Majorca?

Hi Karen,
What time of year are you planning to go? Is it in the school summer holidays or quieter May/June and Sept/Oct? There are a large number of bars and clubs mainly down the 'main strip' and this part can get pretty wild especially in the height of summer.
But if you stay further out of the main areas you still have access to this (but more as and when you want). If you want a bit further out then try looking at Palmanova which neighbours Magalluf (but you won't be able to see when one stops and the other starts) and is great for families.

Hi Karen,

I would recommend Alcudia instead as its great for everything, but nothing is in your face either.

My family loves magaluf, wouldnt take kids in july/august but the rest of the year its great. loads of family friendly bars,my kids love benny hills! lots to do,pirates, the new katmandu, water parks, marine land and golf fantasia are all close by.would only go self catering or half board as you wouldnt want to be stuck in a all inclusive, too much to see and do
the beaches are all fantastic, very clean.
if you stop in aquasol in palma nova say hello to leona!!!
i personally dont like alcudia, south of the island is better, shorter transfers too!

Hi , im not that experienced but i wouldnt personally take kids to Magaluf , even just by the nick names its been given no sure i can print it here so i d better not , in fact i rang up for a short break in majorca off the text and it turned out to be magaluf and they wouldnt let me book it taking children !
That said we stayed in cala mayor in the district of Palma pretty quiet but only 1 euro bus ride to the city centre canny little beaches basic bits about but a 1 euro bus ride in the other direction to magaluf, i think a taxi cost around 5 euros, and they qued at the bottom of the street , the taxis i mean .so for quiet days though they are very quiet it could suit or like someone suggested palma nova...
Best of luck anyway

We stayed in Torrenova, which is at the far end of Palmanova.... just around the corner from Magaluf...quiet with nice beach and plenty of bars etc.... its just a 5 minute taxi ride to Magaluf....

Hi, Palmanova would be your best bet. I have been going there since I was 17 (now 42:o)). You will have best of both worlds both resorts have lovely clean beaches but Palmanova is a bit classier (if that is the right word). Magaluf is in your face and the strip and down at the bottom of the hill is wild especially at night which is fine if your into that. Short transfers from airport too which is a big plus. Good luck! Hi Magaluf is always mistakenly looked upon as a Young persons place with wild Nightlife, but the reality is the majority of folks are Families, look at maybe going somewhere (If you want a Hotel) Sol Mirlos Tordos, Sol Mag Park, Aquasol apts, Martinique Apts , Samos Hotel , Honolulu and Mimosa Park Hotel, these will cater for all that you require.

Best Regards,

Chris.

we had our first family holiday abroad in magaluf and my daughter (7 at the time) loved it, we did go early in the season (first 2 weeks of june) so maybe it was before the lager louts arrived. Pirates is on the doorstep and well worth a visit and the aqua park close by is the best ive visited on the island. Palma Nova is a little quieter and just as nice, but for the best beach and loads of things for kids and adults have a look at Alcudia

Hi noticed you going to apartments rosa del mar in palma nova went this year on 11th may and completly had the safe nicked from the hotel room, inside job im sure as the argentian receptionist saw us go out that nite and when day we left had my mp3 player in his hands which was in the safe, so just letting you know to be on your guard!!! the viva palma nova apartments next door are better, if you have booked with alpharooms which we did got a shit room the manager said the price you pay reflects on the room!!! Bullshit thats wot i say used to manage a travel agents been on cheap holidays and late deals and had fantastic rooms, just thought would let you know as said the viva palma nova apartments next door lot more classier and very nice, met some friends who was in there out of this world, a load better than rosa del mar, was a shame been going to palma nova for more than over 15yrs really spoilt it not sure if would ever go back with wot happened the manager at rosa del mar did not want to know and would not call the police for us or go with us to the police station to translate for us, terrible time we had.
